In class, we used video conferencing to connect with other peers in the classroom. Most of us sat in one room while a group of ten students went to a different room and we conferenced between each other. This process was very interesting because the conferencing worked well and we used more advanced technology that I never thought I would see. The cameras that were used to record us would zoom in on the person who was talking so the other room could see the person who was talking close up. Although this process worked well, it is important to have a good wifi connection from both users location otherwise the conference wont work. Despite this, online conferencing is a great tool to use if a student is on a leave from school or to teach an online course. UVic has used online conferencing for courses to offer students from rural locations an opportunity to attend university locally.
