I have done some sketches of some potential designs of what I would like to embroider on my backpack. My first sketch was of a forest in front of mountains, underneath a sky filled with constellations. My second sketch was of a field of lavender flowers. Although I like my first sketch, I believe that my second sketch would be more manageable, while also providing a chance for more learning. This is because I can learn how to do multiple types of lavender flowers using different stitches and then pick my favourite stitch for my backpack. This is in contrast to my first sketch, as it is a design that I would normally just jump into doing without any research or new stitch learning beforehand.

I have also gotten together with another student in the class, Gracen Dickey, to help her with her embroidery. This experience went really well as I helped teach her how to make a rose. She then went on to learn a daisy stitch and tried to help me learn the stitch, but I ended up not getting the hang of it yet. I also went on to try my first design of the lavender flowers. I found a video on YouTube of a lavender flower that was made from a green split stitch and purple x’s. I then proceeded to try the stitch and the lavender flower turned out very well. I am going to try more lavender flowers before I decided which design I am going to do; however, I do quite enjoy the look of this first one. Not only did I find a YouTube video, I also found a website listing the basic stitches all embroiderers should know. I am very intrigued to try and practice them in future weeks to come.

This is the first desgin I made and I will not be using the desgin on my backpack.

This was the secound design I made, as well as the one I will be using on my backpack.

This was done by myself , the pink and purple star like flower is my attempt of the dasiy flower Stich. The lavender flower is my first option on what style of lavender flower I could use on my backpack.

This was done by Gracen Dickey. I taught her how to make the dark blue rose and she tried to teach me the pink daisy flower.
